Goed bericht<\/strong> (zo dat leest wat gemakkelijker voor jullie)<\/p>\n Gisteren heeft Corrie op de interventional radiology unit van het Jackson Memorial Hospital een angiogram ondergaan. Er wordt dan contrastvloeistof in de aders van de hersenen ge\u00efnjecteerd middels een katheter die via de liesslagader wordt ingebracht; vervolgens worden er rondom r\u00f6ntgenfoto\u2019s genomen van het hoofd en worden alle aders (tjes) zichtbaar. De conclusie is dat de geplaatste dunne metalen draadjes hun werk goed hebben gedaan (alles niet groter dan 1 mm, het is bijna niet voor te stellen en dan opereert deze man alles in de hersenen vanuit een \u201ctoevoer vanuit de lies met de hand!!) en er verder geen (op het andere aneurisma na) calamiteiten zijn geconstateerd. Voor de neurochirurg is Corrie dan ook genezen en mag ze het ziekenhuis per direct verlaten. OEF!<\/p>\n Toch gaan we dan niet. Het zou ook onverantwoord zijn. De eerste drie!! stappen naast het bed vandaag waren eigenlijk al te veel maar ik verzeker je, het gaat helemaal goed komen. Het ligt nu in de bedoeling dat we na een week rehab (fysiotherapie) het ziekenhuis \u201ckwiek\u201d verlaten en dan nog een weekje in een hotel dan wel airbnb (er mag tot 20 maart niet gevlogen worden) .<\/p>\n Eindelijk eens ongestoord door kunnen slapen (geen toeters of bellen (alarmen), geen zuster die elke twee uur aan je bed staat te rammelen of een laborant die in opdracht van dr. Starke een test moet doen dus je pols naar rechts (zo word je barcode afgelezen) en wordt er aan je gerommeld. Corrie kan niet wachten maar er zit helaas een verschilletje tussen het lijf en wat \u201cthe brain\u201d wil.<\/p>\n Voordat we terugvliegen hebben we nog een consult bij dr. Starke en dan maar zo veel mogelijk horizontaal in het vliegtuig (Corrie opperde reeds dat ze de vlucht van Nassau naar Miami (per ambulancevliegtuig) wel heel erg plezierig had gevonden en of dat nu weer kon; jullie merken het, ze heeft haar grenzen verlegd.<\/p>\n Nog twee weken Miami en dan naar huis. YES<\/p>\n \u00a0Zoals altijd; wordt vervolgd <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Good news<\/strong> (that makes it a little bit easier for you to read this)<\/p>\n Yesterday an angiogram was taken of Corrie at the interventional radiology unit of the Jackson Memorial\u00a0 hospital. A long flexible catheter is inserted through the blood stream (via the femoral artery) to deliver dye (contrast agent) into the arteries making them visible on the x-ray. X-rays are then taken of the brain. The conclusion is that the thin metal wires that were placed in her blood vessel did a good job (only 1 mm, almost unimaginable, and the doctor operates everything in the brain by hand through a device that is placed through the groin!!) and he observed no other (apart from the second aneurism that he observed already before) calamities. This means that from a neurological standpoint Corrie has healed and she could leave the hospital immediately. What a relief!<\/p>\n We\u2019re not leaving quite yet though. That would be irresponsible. The first three!! steps outside the bed were almost too much, but I can assure you, everything is going to be alright. \u00a0The intention is now that we can leave the hospital \u201cfit\u201d after a week of rehab (physical therapy), and then a week in a hotel or airbnb (flying is not allowed until march 20th).<\/p>\n Finally being able to sleep undisturbed (no bells, whistles and alarms), no nurse at your bed every two hours or a lab technician that has been ordered to do a test by dr. Starke, so you have to move your wrist to the right (that\u2019s how your barcode is scanned) and there\u2019s lots of fussing around with you. Corrie can\u2019t wait, but unfortunately there\u2019s a slight difference between the body and what the brain wants.<\/p>\n Before we fly back we will have a final consult with dr. Starke, and then as much as possible horizontally in the airplane (Corrie already suggested that she really enjoyed the flight from Nassau to Miami (by ambulance plane) and whether we could do that again; as you can see, she has expanded her borders.<\/p>\n Still two more weeks in Miami and then home.
